It’s Not Burnout — It’s Misalignment

A few months ago, I started working with a founder who told me, “I’m not burned out. I’m just… off.” She was still showing up. Still leading. Still closing deals.  But her focus was foggy. Her patience was thin. Her back hurt by 2pm every day, and she hadn’t slept through the night in weeks. […]

A few months ago, I started working with a founder who told me, “I’m not burned out. I’m just… off.”

She was still showing up. Still leading. Still closing deals.

But her focus was foggy. Her patience was thin. Her back hurt by 2pm every day, and she hadn’t slept through the night in weeks.

She actually felt okay. She just didn’t feel like herself. And that was what brought her to me.

That’s the kind of leader I work with all the time. High-functioning, high-performing… and wondering what’s next, or if this is it.

You don’t need more ideas, or more motivation.

You just need to come back to your body. The answer is in your alignment.

Wait. What Does “Alignment” Actually Mean?

It’s one of those words we hear all the time — in leadership books, yoga studios, and boardroom keynotes. But in my work, alignment means something really simple:

Your body, your mind, and your priorities… all moving in the same direction.

When you’re aligned, your posture supports your breath. Your breath supports your nervous system. Your nervous system supports your presence. And all of that supports the kind of leader you want to be.

When your alignment is off — even slightly — you’ll feel it. You’ll work harder to get the same results. You’ll say yes when you mean no. You’ll get through the day, but you won’t feel good doing it.

And when it’s back? You get your energy, clarity, and authority back too.

That’s what we’re really after.

What Happens When You’re Out of Alignment

You get more efficient. You push through. You put on the leadership face and do what needs to be done. But over time, that gap — between how you feel and how you show up — starts to widen. You might not even notice it at first, but your body does.

You lead from the neck up. You live in your head, and you lose touch with the signals your body’s been trying to send all along. The cost shows up in how often you second-guess yourself.

Maybe your shoulders tense the moment you sit down. Maybe your jaw stays clenched through every conversation. Maybe you catch yourself holding your breath during Zoom calls, or crashing at 3pm and wondering why you can’t push like you used to.

That’s your system telling you it’s time to realign.

Okay… So What Do You Do With That?

First: you don’t need to fix everything overnight. You don’t even need to figure it out. Most high performers are used to solving problems fast.

But when it comes to your alignment, you just need to get curious. Notice what your body’s already saying.

What feels off?

When are you tensing up?

What are you pushing through that maybe… you don’t need to?

Sometimes the most productive (and hardest) thing a leader can do is pause. Take one full breath. Feel your feet on the ground. That’s the start of realignment.

What Working Together Looks Like

This is the part most leaders try to DIY for a while. And that’s great! Some can. But it’s faster when you have someone in your corner.

When we work together, we start with you. We work with posture, breath, movement, and mindset — all anchored in your actual values. You’ll learn how to listen to your body, regulate your nervous system, and make decisions that feel clean and clear.

You’ll stop white-knuckling it, and start leading from a place that feels solid.

This isn’t a quick fix. But the leaders who go through this work don’t just perform better — they feel better doing it, and it lasts longer.
